  • WE HAVE THE LAND ... WE'D LIKE OUR COMMUNITY TO USE IT!

    September 30, 2019

West Elgin Mutual, has some land and we’d like our community to join us in creating a Community Garden!

“The Garden” would be a place where people from Western Elgin County could come together to grow fresh produce for donation to local food banks to assist people struggling to provide for their families.  Surplus could be sold to raise funds to support other community projects.  There would also be opportunities for schools and youth groups to participate in the project.

So far The Municipality of Dutton-Dunwich; West Lorne and Community Horticultural Society and Dunwich United Church are on board and we’d like other organizations, businesses and individuals to join us!

The local “community” has played a key role in the success of West Elgin Mutual.  Over the past 138 years, they have helped and supported our business and without them, we wouldn’t be where we are today.

For more information, or if you’re interested in helping with the planning, volunteering as a gardener or a helper, or making a donation i.e. tools, seeds etc., please reach out to Rae Perry by phone (519.762.3530), via email  (rperry@westelgin.com) or Facebook Messenger.

Please join us in “growing” for our community.
