In June 2017, staff members at West Elgin Mutual came up with the idea of “Summer Solstice – Longest Day of Golf” to raise funds to support children within the communities of Elgin County.
Two of our keen golfers, Kelli-An DeCook and Matt Ross, played 150 holes in 12 hours and John McWilliam walked the course for the same length of time and completed over 70 holes of golf.
Through sponsorship, donations from our vendors and businesses within our communities, along with members of our staff and the public playing rounds of golf, we raised $3,325.00. This money has been distributed over the last 10 months to various organizations enabling kids to participate in summer camps, swimming lessons, music lessons and equine assisted therapy and many other activities.
Being able to support kids in such a way has meant a great deal to our team here at West Elgin Mutual and we want to do it again this year!
Tuesday, June 26th is the date for the “2nd Annual Longest Day of Golf” and we’re hoping that organizations, businesses and the people within Elgin County (and further afield) will once again come out in support of this great cause.
We would love for you and your colleagues/friends to join us in support of this event. If you are unable to attend, but would like to contribute, we welcome any prize donations or sponsorships for our “marathon” players!
Thank you in advance for your consideration. We look forward to you and your organization being represented at “The Longest Day of Golf”.
The 2017 AGM of West Elgin Mutual will be held at the Rodney Community Centre, 135 Queen Street, Rodney on March 23rd commencing at 7pm.
This year our guest speaker will be "Seamus Gunn", a well known historian. His topic is "Road to Confederation - Elgin County". Come along and listen to Seamus as he shares his knowledge about local farmers and business owners, election shenanigans and other wee snippets of interest from over the years.
